Roofing sheet prices are quoted per sq ft, per running metre or per kg. To compare fairly, check these factors in every quote.
Base metal thickness
Thickness (e.g. 0.40 mm vs 0.50 mm) makes the biggest difference to price, strength and life. Confirm whether the quote states base metal thickness or total coated thickness.
Coating type and mass
GI, galvalume and colour-coated sheets differ in price and life. The coating mass also matters — a lighter coating is cheaper but protects for less time.
Effective cover width
Sheets overlap at the sides, so price per sq ft of roof covered depends on effective cover width, not the full sheet width.
Length and accessories
Cut-to-length sheets reduce end laps and wastage. Include ridges, flashings, gutters and fasteners when comparing totals.
